Our Impact
The need in Peñasco is real. And asking for help isn't easy.
Every year seasonal layoffs sweep through Puerto Peñasco — and when the paychecks stop, the kitchen gets quiet. Add border issues, a slow tourism season, a pandemic, and families who were already stretching every peso are suddenly facing something much harder. That's the reality this community lives with. And that's why we show up.
In 2025 — our very first full year — friends and neighbors helped us raise over $26,000. We packed and distributed food bags to vetted families every single month of the year. Twelve months in a row, without missing one. Heroes exceeded the goal. Believers proved this community shows up.
In January 2025, we partnered with the local food bank, Banco de Alimentos Puerto Peñasco, and the local city social assistance agency, Sistema Nacional para el Desarrollo Integral de la Familia (D.I.F.), to build an even stronger, united response — ensuring children, families, and seniors across Puerto Peñasco have access to nutritious meals. Together, we share one vision: a Puerto Peñasco where help is always within reach.
The Empty Bowls Puerto Peñasco team is endeavoring to hold our main fundraising event annually in November, ahead of the known needs in the community. In addition to this, we will be hosting a series of smaller fundraising events throughout the year to further enhance our mission, set the stage for our annual grand event, and engage the community in meaningful ways.
