Our Impact
The need in Peñasco is real and asking for help isn’t easy.
Every year during December, January, and February, the economic impact of seasonal job layoffs in Puerto Peñasco creates wide spread food insecurity. And couple this with unpredictable events like the Pandemic, border closings, and slowing tourism occurring simultaneously, and all hands are on deck with neighbors helping neighbors finding ways to make it through tough times.
In January 2025, we partnered with the local food bank, Banco de Alimentos Puerto Peñasco, to create a stronger, united front in the fight against hunger, ensuring every child in Puerto Peñasco has access to nutritious meals. This collaboration embodies a shared vision of a Puerto Peñasco where no child goes hungry. Together, both organizations will work tirelessly to ensure the well-being of future generations. Achieving this ambitious goal requires the help of compassionate individuals and organizations. Volunteers, donors, and community leaders are essential to sustaining these efforts.

The Empty Bowls Puerto Peñasco team is endeavoring to hold our main fundraising event annually in November, ahead of the known needs in the community. In addition to this, we will be hosting a series of smaller fundraising events throughout the year to further enhance our mission, set the stage for our annual grand event, and engage the community in meaningful ways.
Your contributions to Empty Bowls has the power to help ensure that there is food on the table for Peñasco children, families, and seniors IMMEDIATELY after our events with 100% of the proceeds going directly to local food purchase and distribution.
